Kairali Group plans to expand footprint in international market.
Aims to operate 30 franchises by the end of current financial year

With Ayurveda gaining popularity in the global market, Kerala-based Kairali Group is planning to expand its footprint with few projects in the international market. On the domestic front, currently it operates centres at Delhi, Mumbai, Khajuraho, Kovallam, Ahmedabad and Trivendrum. The Group also plans to open six more projects in the coming years for enhancing its presence in the country. The Group is scouting for locations in Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh. The centres in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai will be operational by April next year. Recently, the company had tied up with hospitality player - Confident Group and Country Club for providing a spa and Ayurvedic treatment support centre. The Group is also considering developing the Khajuraho-based spa centre into a full-fledged Ayurvedic health resort.

Commenting on the various projects in pipeline, Abishek Ramesh, Director, Kairali Ayurvedic Resort said, “With the increasing popularity of Ayurveda in the overseas market, the demand is high. We already operate centres in Kazakhstan, Poland, Lebanon, Tokyo and Yokohama, while we are looking at expanding further by entering Dubai, South Africa and Malaysia by next year. We are currently negotiating with the operators and tourism bodies there and are aiming to make the centres fully functional by end of 2009 in all the three countries.” The company is also considering to operate out of Mauritius, Japan, Kenya, Tanzania and United States of America, added Ramesh. Apart from operating its own spa and Ayurveda centres, the Group also operates about 22 franchise outlets in India. “We are aiming to operate a total of 30 franchises by the end of this financial year (2008-2009),” said Ramesh.

Kairali Group's Kairali Ayurvedic Health Resort in Pallakad, Kerala is also set for renovation. The resort was launched in 1999 and currently has 30 cottages in four various categories and 12 Ayurvedic treatment rooms. Ramesh said,“About 80 per cent of our business comes from European market, while Far East, Middle East, Germany and France are still growing. Since the market demand is growing, we planned to renovate our complete property in phases by 2010.” The Group received SpaAsia Crystal Award in the category of 'Best Ayurvedic Centre in Asia Pacific' in 2005.
